                                             FALSE ALLEGATIONS
                                     of rape and child abuse

Ireland has one of the highest rates of false rape allegations in Europe

According to research carried out by Trinity College Dublin and London Metropolitan University:

Ireland has one of the highest rates of false rape allegations in Europe with...

...a minimum of 9% of accusations being provably false.

As the law stands in Ireland, men can be subjected to false allegations of rape and of child abuse, or the threat of such allegations, with no consequences whatever for the accuser.  For the victims, such false allegations can result in criminalisation, the loss of contact with their children, and the life-long destruction of their reputation.
