responses FROM CANDIDATES
 to our Statement and Questions

Micheal Martin   Leader FF
“Fianna Fáil... have a number of policy proposals that tackle issues that as you point out disproportionally affect men...

Fianna Fáil condemns domestic violence and believes that the victims’ gender should not shape or influence our response to this issue.  Domestic violence is simply wrong and the impact of domestic violence on males should not be trivialised. More must be done to support men who are victims of domestic violence to speak out and seek help.

Finally, we believe that the law should apply equally to men and women and that those found guilty of making false allegations should be dealt with appropriately before the law.

There is a higher rate of boys failing to complete second level education and a number of our proposals will have a direct positive impact on improving outcomes for children, but in particular boys who are proportionally more at risk of leaving school prior to completing their Leaving Certificate.”
